Canyonz - Special tour BLUE CANYON - HALF-DAY TOUR

The Blue Canyon half-day trip is ideal for those looking for a morning or afternoon adventure on the West Coast of Auckland.

The Blue Canyon is located in the Waitakere Regional Park, 40 minutes west of Auckland.

The sparkling waterfalls cascade down rock walls covered in hanging ferns and soft mosses, and the stream winds its way through a spectacular and remote gorge. It is a fantastic canyoning site because of its great combination of jumps and waterslides.

We pickup our clients from their City accommodation or from the ship docking at 8.00 am. Other departure times can be arranged.

We then head toward the scenic Waitakere Ranges, 40 minutes west of Auckland.

It is then a 35 minutes walk through stunning bush scenery, amongst tuis and fantails, kauri, rimu and fern trees, until we reach the start of the canyon. Here we put on our gear, and instruction on canyoning techniques is given.

There are about 18 waterfalls in total, ranging from 2 to 25 metres. The water has carved perfect pools into the rock, creating the most amazing shapes.

We jump, hydroslide and abseil our way down the stream, basically following a giant staircase made of waterfalls and pools!

Our clients get at least 2 hours of the best canyoning adventure in Auckland! No other river in the Waitakere Ranges offers such a variety of challenges!

The water slides are a lovely feature of this canyon. The biggest slide is a favourite and we often stop there so that keen canyoners can have another go!

There are many jumps into deep blue pools, and the biggest is 8 metres high. It is considered by most to be the greatest challenge of the trip. Some people have no trouble doing the jump but for those who can’t, the abseil is quite stunning.

Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day.

This tour does not include abseiling. For abseiling please refer to the full-day tour.
