Awards

The ASCILITE awards are designed to reward leaders in the use of electronic technologies in teaching and learning in tertiary education. All current ASCILITE members can submit an example of work for consideration.

The 2002-2003 NextEd/ASCILITE Research Grant

Applications for this award are to be received no later than 5:00pm on Monday 4 November, 2002.

Proposals are requested from ASCILITE members for the NZD$5,000.00 NextEd/ASCILITE Research Grant (NEARG).

The 2002-2003 NEARG will be awarded to the proposal that provides the best rationale for expenditure of the grant in the research, development and/or advancement of knowledge relating to the use of on-line learning technologies in teaching and learning in tertiary education. Possible areas of focus might include:

  • The international student market.
  • The total student experience.
  • Implementation of blended learning solutions.
  • Establishment and maintenance of online learning communities.
  • Interactive design for on-line learning.
  • Assessment strategies for on-line learning.
  • Learning objects for flexibility in online learning.

Suggested items to which the award might be applied include:

  • Research assistance.
  • Development and application of research methodology.
  • Development of presentation for ASCILITE 2003.
  • Supplementation of existing grants.
  • Assistance with travel expenses.
  • Conference registration.
  • Equipment purchases.

Proposals of no more than four (4) pages should provide the following information:

1. Proposer's Name, Affiliation and Contact Details.
2. Project Title.
3. Project Members.
4. Project Rationale and Significance.
5. Project Management Details (budget, timeline, milestones).
6. Project Evaluation Criteria.
7. Strategies for the Dissemination of Project Outcomes.

Proposals should be submitted as email attachments to ascilite@unitec.ac.nz with the subject heading of the email 'NEARG 2002', to be received no later than 5:00pm on Monday 4th November 2002.
