Workshop will focus on the designs and structures of resource-based
learning environments (RBLEs), with an emphasis on the psychological
and pedagogical underpinnings. RBLEs are technology-mediated learning
environments wherein existing resources are utilised to support
diverse teaching-learning applications that are often very similar
to their initial purposes. Resources are defined along a continuum
ranging from isolated existing data points through generated artefacts,
depending on their utility for given teaching and/or learning.
RBLEs aid the user in transforming a resource's meaning by inducing
interpretive perspectives, scaffolding interpretation based on
the particular user's intents and needs, and facilitating metacognitive
processes. Participants will be introduced to the basic components
of RBLEs, provided detailed examples of RBLEs in practice and
gain experience in conceptualising and designing RBLEs.
