From an initiative set up in late 1994 to provide the academic community with information about teaching materials for use with new technologies, UniServe€ Science was established at the University of Sydney. UniServe€ Science is one of a number of national clearing houses set up by the Committee for the Advancement of University Teaching (CAUT) in the areas of Science, Law, Health, Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences. These clearing houses make up UniServe*Australia. The current areas of activity of each clearing house are described. A more detailed report on the status of the use of computers in biology teaching around Australia is given.
