Professor Lloyd Rieber
Department of Instructional Technology,
The University of Georgia
Lloyd is interested in
visualization, cognitive psychology and constructivistic orientations to
instructional design. His research focuses on using computer animation in the
design of interactive learning environments. His most recent research is about
the integration of computer-based microworlds, simulations and games using play
theory as the theoretical framework. He is now applying this research to online
learning environments. He has written two books. The first, Computers,
Graphics, and Learning, was the recipient of Association for Educational
Communications and Technology's James W. Brown Publication Award. He was
also one of the originators of ITFORUM, a professional listserv devoted to
instructional technology issues, and was its first moderator. He is chair-elect
of the Special Interest Group for Instructional Technology of the American
Educational Research Association and is also a past-president of the
Association for the Development of Computer-Based Instructional Systems
(ADCIS).

Professor Alex Radloff
Associate Dean (Academic)
Director of Teaching Quality in the Faculty of Life Sciences,
RMIT University
Alex's research interests include
self-regulation of learning in university students, the development of student
academic writing skills and professional development of academic staff. She has
been the recipient of a CAUT and a CUTSD teaching development grant for her
work on student writing and is the co-author of three books on student writing
and learning. Alex has been a member of the HERDSA National Executive for six
years and is a past President of the HERDSA WA Branch. Alex is an experienced
presenter and workshop facilitator and in the past five years has conducted
more than 40 consultancies, training programs, seminars and evaluation studies
for various bodies in the public and private sectors in Australia. She has also
designed and presented professional development programs for participants from
the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and South Africa.
Associate Professor Tim Koschmann
Department of Medical Education,
Southern Illinois University
Tim undertakes research
on interaction in settings of collaboration and learning. Much of his work has
concentrated on problem-based learning (PBL) as a form of educational
innovation. He has been active in the emerging field of Computer Support for
Collaborative Learning (CSCL). He was Program Chair for the first international
conference on CSCL (CSCL '95) at Indiana University and Conference
Co-Chair for CSCL '97 at the University of Toronto. Tim was the editor of
CSCL: Theory and Practice of an Emerging Paradigm (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates,
1996) and is co-editor (together with Naomi Miyake and Rogers Hall) of a sequel
scheduled to appear later this year. He is an associate editor for the Journal
of the Learning Sciences and is on the editorial board of several other
scholarly journals, including the American Educational Research Journal,
Distance Education, and the Journal of Interactive Media in Education.
