The Information Technology teaching section at OTEN is running a trial of online delivery using the Internet. It has a 400 hour course comprising 430 hours of training materials. At the heart of the service is an HTTP server that dynamically generates HTML pages using an Informix database.

This poster describes the functionality of the online delivery platform in terms of its provision of services to staff, students and administrators. Examples are, how do staff upload pages, how do students submit assessment items and how do you keep student e-mail addresses up-to-date. In addition, we describe the maintenance tasks performed by the system administrator that keep the system functional.

This will be extremely useful to new entrants to the online education area as it describe a variety of services and the issues to be considered when setting up an online delivery platform.
